Preparing the Aluminum Surface
Before applying a protective film to aluminum, it is essential to prepare the surface properly. Start by cleaning the aluminum thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease, or contaminants. Use a solvent-based cleaner or a mixture of warm water and mild detergent to scrub the surface. Rinse with clean water and allow it to dry completely, as any moisture left on the surface can affect adhesion.
Once the surface is dry, inspect it for any imperfections such as scratches or dents. These flaws can create weak points in the protective film, leading to premature failure. If necessary, use sandpaper or a file to smooth out rough areas and ensure a flat, even surface for optimal adhesion.
Applying the Protective Film
With the aluminum surface prepared, it’s time to apply the protective film. Begin by measuring the dimensions of the aluminum piece and cutting the film accordingly, leaving a little extra margin to ensure full coverage. Carefully peel back a corner of the film and align it with one edge of the aluminum, ensuring it is straight and level.
Slowly peel away the backing while pressing down on the film to avoid air bubbles. Use a squeegee or a soft cloth to smooth out the film as you go, working from the center outwards. This technique helps eliminate air pockets and ensures a strong bond between the film and the aluminum surface.
Finishing Touches and Curing

| thickness specification | range from 40mic to 100mic |
| Structure | Polyethylene base Sheet coated with Acrylic PSA |
| Product Name | alumin unitum profile protective film |
| Glue | Pressure activated adhesive |
| Width Range | 20measurement in mm to 300measurement in mm |
| Length Range | Adjustable from 200m to 500m |
After applying the protective film, trim any excess material along the edges for a clean finish. It’s important to ensure that the film adheres well at the edges, as these areas are prone to peeling if not secured properly. Use a heat gun or hairdryer on a low setting to gently warm the film, which can help improve adhesion and conform the film to any contours of the aluminum.
Allow the protective film to cure according to the manufacturer’s instructions. This process may take several hours to days, depending on the specific product used. During this time, avoid exposing the coated aluminum to moisture or heavy impacts to ensure the film sets correctly and provides maximum protection.
